Our school provides opportunities for students, staff and parents to know and celebrate their Catholic faith. This is done through the religious life of our school. Members of our community experience a rich liturgical and prayer life, celebration of the Sacraments, faith formation, social outreach activities, and opportunities to share faith with each other and with youth from other schools in the Archdiocese.
We at St Mel’s Catholic Primary School believe we are founded on the teachings of Jesus Christ and enlivened by the Gospel values. Faith is developmental, unique and interconnected to life experiences and it is a part of our culture, parents and significant others are models for children’s faith development and practice.
At St Mel’s, we provide a number of faith formation opportunities. These include; school Masses, Reconciliation, Adoration, Reflection days, winter sleepout and a number of community outreach programs.
We also provide the opportunity for students to deepen their connection to the church through sacramental programs.
Prayer in all its forms is a means of communicating and developing a relationship with God that leads to spiritual growth. Prayer, meditation and participation in the liturgical life of the Church are key elements of the Religious Education program. The Religious Education text, “To Know, Worship and Love:, is regularly used in the classroom and sent home.
