Sydney Catholic Schools’ exciting new comprehensive music education program is well underway and St Mel’s Catholic Primary School Campsie acting principal, Elizabeth Pisano, can’t say enough good things about it.
“St Mel’s is proud to announce that we have successfully launched the Amadeus Music Program this year with 144 students in Kindergarten to Year 2 enrolled and 167 students in Years 3 to 6,” Ms Pisano said.
Sydney Catholic Schools’ Amadeus Music Education Program has been delivered in 13 SCS primary and secondary schools in the Auburn-Lakemba area in 2021, helping students learn numeracy, literacy and emotional skills while experiencing the special joy of music.
We hope to be making beautiful music together in the not too distant future – Elizabeth Pisano
As part of this program, students in Year 3 to Year 8 at the 13 schools participate in small group and ensemble music lessons delivered by specialist teachers. Students also receive an instrument, starting with a string instrument in Year 3.
“This is a brilliant opportunity, immersing students in the joy and challenge of learning to play music in small group tutorials and grade ensembles,” Ms Pisano said.
“The children are feeling both excited and privileged to be offered this option in their daily curriculum.”
